Water Separation Index

SETA-CRM WSI Jet Fuel

The SETA-CRM WSI Jet Fuel Certified Reference Material is an ISO 17034 UKAS accredited Certified Reference Material (CRM) designed for the verification of Water Separation Instruments operating in accordance with ASTM D8073 and IP 624.

Manufactured by Stanhope-Seta under the requirements of ISO 33405, with documentation compliant to ISO 33401, this stable petroleum reference material has been characterised through an interlaboratory comparison study using ASTM D8073, providing laboratories with a reliable and traceable solution for routine instrument verification.

With a nominal Water Separation Index (WSI) value of 95, the CRM supports laboratories carrying out routine verification of Water Separation Instruments, helping maintain confidence in analyser performance while supporting ISO 17025 quality systems and audit requirements.

Each 250 mL bottle is supplied with an ISO 17034 Certificate, Safety Data Sheet (SDS) and has a one-year shelf life from the date of manufacture.

The Stanhope-Seta SETA-CRM range has been developed to support routine monitoring of laboratory instrument performance. Each ISO 17034 Certified Reference Material is supplied with a certified value, method limits, measurement uncertainty and coverage factor, providing laboratories with the information required to support ISO 17025 and ISO 9001 quality systems and demonstrate traceable instrument verification.

The SETA-CRM WSI Jet Fuel Certified Reference Material has been specifically developed for verification of Water Separation Instruments operating in accordance with ASTM D8073 and IP 624. Routine use enables laboratories to verify analyser performance between calibration and service intervals, helping identify changes in instrument performance before they affect reported results.

In addition to routine quality control, the CRM can be used for operator training and competency assessment. Using a Certified Reference Material removes uncertainty when evaluating analyser performance, helping laboratories demonstrate competence during internal and external audits while reducing instrument downtime.

Incorrect determination of Water Separation Index can have significant operational and quality implications within the aviation fuel supply chain. Routine verification using the SETA-CRM WSI Jet Fuel Certified Reference Material provides confidence that analysers continue to perform as expected, supporting reliable test results and helping laboratories maintain compliance with recognised international standards.
